If I recall this building correctly, I toured it shortly after it was constructed. I was a student of Architecture at U of Illinois Chicago Campus. The schools was, at the time, a Montessori school with each classroom open to another so as to allow students to move within education without limits. Johansen designed all of the mechanical elements to be exposed and painted bright colors - allowing the students to participate in each of the mechanical and structural elements of the building. A tubular walkway connected sections of the schools which made the transition from area to area fun rather than restricted by the rigid confines we associate with schools. The floors were carpeted and although the day was overcast, the school was brightly lit, colorful and fun to be within.
Of all the great architecture in Columbus, Johansen's work had the most lasting impression in my mind - even today, almost thirty years later.
