The old cityhall of the Hague was much more inpressive than the new one.
It still exists :

The old (17th century) building looks a lot like the cityhall of Antwerp, exept it is much smaller as the capital of Holland was much smaller than Antwerp in the 1560's.
Next to this old cityhall is a 18th century extention. There were plans to make a neo-renaissance extention in 1920, but sadly that never happened.
The tower was added at the end of the 17th century.
it is not the only imporantant renaissance building in The Hague.
The Pagehouse (1618-1625) is also a fine example of such a building.
