This was the first of the church designs (plans were also made for the cities of Temesvár, Kolozsvár, Vargyas, Nagyvárad, Sepsiszentgyörgy) to be built in Transylvania following the fall of the Iron Curtain. The goal was to expand the congregation’s old church, which had become too small. Only a plan consisting of the construction of a new church beside the old was allowed. The main motifs seen in this plan are a tower copied from the old tombstones embedded in the wall surrounding the church and four angel statues that follow the mass by peering through the skylight.
