Polk County Science Building

Polk County Sci­ence Buil­ding, com­ple­ted in 1958, was the last of Wright's buil­dings to be con­struc­ted on the cam­pus. Built at a cost of over one mil­lion dol­lars, the struc­ture con­ta­ins the only pla­ne­ta­rium Frank Lloyd Wright de­si­gned that was con­struc­ted. The building's long low pro­file ex­em­pli­fies Wright's or­ga­nic ar­chi­tec­ture. The struc­ture also con­ta­ins the first use of alu­mi­num for aes­t­he­tic pur­po­ses.
