The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City attracts visitors interested in both the museum's art collection and the unique architecture of the building itself. American architect Frank Lloyd Wright designed the building, which was completed in 1959. The spiraling structure on the right is a grand exhibition hall illuminated by means of a large skylight; a new section, left, was added in 1992. The museum houses a large collection of abstract art, much of it collected by Guggenheim beginning in the 1920s.
