Marsh studied architecture under Hornblower & Marshall. He was made a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects in 1895. He had been associated with the firm of Marsh & Peter since 1898. His work in Washington includes the Evening Star Building, the First Church of Christ Scientist, the Farmers and Mechanics National Bank, school buildings, residences, the Federal Post Office and Court House in Wheeling, West Virginia, and the National Bank of Charlottesville, Virginia.
