Professor of the History of Architecture at Columbia University.
Hamlin was a graduate of Amherst College. He also studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and under W. R. Ware and J. Gaudet. From 1903 to 1912 he was associated with Hamlin and Warren on buildings for Robert College, Constantinople. He was made a member of the American Institute of Architects in 1911 and in 1916 was made a Fellow of the Institute. His work included the American School of Classical Studies at Athens, Greece; the soldiers' monument at Whitinsville, Massachusetts, with Hermon MacNeil, sculptor; many residences, churches, and clubs. He was the author of numerous books on the history of architecture.
