Roland Rainer

Rai­ner stu­died 1953/54 pro­fes­sor at the tech­ni­cal uni­ver­sity in Ha­no­ver, 1955 in Graz, at the tech­ni­cal uni­ver­sity in Vi­enna, star­ting from 1932 in­de­pen­dently, 1956-80 directors/conductors of the mas­ter school for ar­chi­tec­ture at the aca­demy of the for­ming arts in Vi­enna, 1958-63 town plan­ners of Vi­enna.

Ro­land Rai­ner de­ve­l­o­ped a co­he­rent theory from the ein­zel­haus to the town con­struc­tion in nu­merous pu­bli­ca­ti­ons. For pri­vate hou­ses Rai­ner pu­bli­ci­ses na­ture near li­ving in the con­so­li­da­ted low rise buil­ding and sei­zes ideas from the an­ti­quity (atrium-type buil­ding) and the Ori­ent on (gar­den city Pu­chenau with Linz, 1966-82); for large pu­blic buil­dings Rai­ner uses a express-iv-constructional lan­guage as a sign of de­mo­cra­tic re­pre­sen­ta­tion (town hall Vi­enna, 1955-58; Town hall Lud­wigs­ha­fen, 1962-65).
